Background

Pakistan Health Research Council (PHRC) after attaining the autonomous status has stepped into a new era wherein the State has entrusted the Council with enhanced mandate to promote, organize, coordinate, and conduct scientific research in the fields of health within the framework of national, legal, socioeconomic development of the country.

In pursuance of its mandate to “facilitate utilization of results of the research” this 1st National Health Research Conference is planned with the objectives to bring together delegates from across the country to share their research findings, gain insights from inspirational keynote speakers and promote the culture of research within the country.

The Council has recently carried out a research priority setting exercise to enlist the priority areas of research according to our local needs to strategically allocate the limited resources. To have the information as to how much work has already been carried out calling out such congress serves as a platform for the quickest analysis. Therefore, the first National Health Research Conference is planned by PHRC in September, 2018.

Objective

Sharing the research findings, networking among stakeholders and providing objective input for appropriate policy formulation for health research in the country.

(Note: Any original research related to public health, clinical research, epidemiology, microbiology, biochemistry, biotechnology of the above mentioned thematic areas will be acceptable)

Guidelines

 

Abstract

  • Abstracts may be submitted on any topic mentioned in thematic areas (Non-Communicable Diseases, Communicable Diseases, Bio safety and Bio-security, Maternal, Neonatal & Child Health, Health Surveillance & systems Research, Nutrition, Genetics, Drug Research)
  • Abstracts must be sent through e-mail as an attachment in MS Word.
  • Abstracts must contain original material.
  • Abstracts shall be accompanied with a title page including Title of the article, Name of Author(s), Institution, Telephone and E-mail address.
  • Abstracts shall be structured by using the following sub-headings: Background, Objectives, Methodology, Results, Conclusions & Recommendations.
  • Word limit for abstracts is 250 words.

 

 

Oral Presentation

  • Authors shall prepare the oral presentation in such manner that it takes 8-10 minutes maximum with 05 minutes for question answers sessions for each oral presenter.

 

 

Posters

 

  • Each poster presenter will be allocated display board.
  • Poster should be visible from a distance of 1 meter; therefore appropriate font size should be used for the title and text.
  • Use of colors is recommended.
  • The poster should be organized in sections: Background, Objectives, Methodology, Results and Conclusion & Recommendations.
  • Author (preferably first) should be present during the poster presentation.

 

 

Expected Outcomes

 

The event is expected to;

  • bring out substantive exchange of knowledge central for addressing both challenges and opportunities in the health research
  • serve as a direct channel to disseminate research findings to guide evidence-based policy making
  • address growing need for multi sectoral partnerships in research and bring them under a single platform. Researchers and organizations working in apparently isolated corners, will be able to partner and engage themselves to promote mutual understanding of convergent issues
  • offer direct communication of the findings to our policy makers will be the prime objective to translate knowledge into action to attain the Sustainable Development Goals vision 2030

  • All abstracts will be reviewed.
  • Last date for submission of abstracts is July 31, 2018.
  • Abstracts must be accompanied with Registration Form.
  • Abstracts & Registration can be submitted via E-mail or Online.
